My π

My pi

After sex but before sleep,
I, lying awake, a vigil do keep --

A vigil of solace and comfort from woe
For I watch o'er my Love as to sleep he doth go,

And the pattern of beauty inscribed in his face
Inspires me with hope for myself, and my race;

And it fills me with pride that a creature so rare
Lies asleep in the dawn in my arms, in my care.
